Bethany Hires Sansom as New Director of Athletic Communications

Bethany, WV. (BethanyBison.com) – Erikka Sansom, a native of Elmira, New York, has been named the next Director of Athletic Communications at Bethany College.

Sansom, comes to Bethany after working as a Behavioral Therapist at Augusta Levy Learning Center in Wheeling, WV.  At ALLC, she worked with autistic students, providing intensive one-on-one treatment to enhance the social, academic, communication and independent living skills of its students.

"I am excited to add Erikka to our department.  Her creativity and work ethic, displayed throughout her career in a variety of roles, were two of the most important traits for where our department wants that position to go," said Director of Athletics Steve Thompson.  "How we communicate with perspective student-athletes, current student-athletes, and our entire constituency is changing and Erikka has a tremendous vision to do just that."

Sansom received her Bachelor's degree in Health and Physical Education from the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford and holds a Master's degree in Special Education Birth-8th Grade from Slippery Rock University. During her time at Pitt-Bradford, Sansom was a student-athlete and got her start in the athletics communication field where she worked with the sports information staff during sporting events.

"I want to thank President Rodenberg, Steve Thompson, Coach Hager and the rest of the search committee for giving me an opportunity to join the team at Bethany College," stated Sansom.  "I am grateful for my time at ALLC, the kids and staff will always be dear to my heart, but this was a unique opportunity to return to intercollegiate athletics and support One Bethany."

After graduation, Sansom has dedicated a lot of time in athletics throughout her career.  Sansom coached high school basketball and softball for three years before joining Elmira College's softball staff.  Most recently, Sansom spent the 2016-2017 softball season learning under Bethany College icon Jan Forsty.
