NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (pacathletics.org)— Bethany College's athletes Riley Meyers and Ethan Young were recognized as PAC Scholar-Athletes announced by the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Friday morning.

Riley Meyers continues to add accolades to her distinguished career. Riley was a four-year member of Bethany's soccer and track and field programs. On April 30 she claimed individual titles in the 100-meter and 400-meter hurdles at the PAC Outdoor Championships, which were held at the Track & Field Complex at Mylan Park in Morgantown, West Virginia. Riley won the 100 hurdles with a school-record time of 14.87 seconds and the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:04.93. On May 27 Riley became the College's first-ever female to compete at the NCAA Division III Championships, finishing 18th in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:05.57 at the Irwin Belk Track in Greensboro, North Carolina.

A three-time All-PAC honoree with the soccer program, Riley earned First Team All-PAC distinction this spring. A Presidential Scholar, she has been lauded as a member of the PAC's Academic Honor Roll four times, served as Bethany's senior class president and Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) president and was a member of the College's Black Student Union. Riley graduated May 8 with a bachelor's degree in political science. She will be attending the Cleveland-Marshall College of Law, the law school of Cleveland State University, this fall.

Ethan Young was a four-year member of Bethany's baseball program. An outfielder, he appeared in 101 career games, finishing with 87 hits, 53 RBIs, 10 home runs and a career batting average of .279. He earned PAC Academic Honor Roll distinction three times. During his four years at Bethany, Ethan served as the Economics and Business Club president, Spanish Club secretary and was a charter class member of the Bethany Honors Program. He was inducted into Kappa Mu Epsilon (Mathematics honorary), Sigma Delta Pi (Spanish honorary) and Omicron Delta Epsilon (Economics honorary). Ethan was also a member of the LEAD program, a student group that revolves around the Social Change Model (SCM) of Leadership Development. He is currently serving as a 15U youth baseball coach. Ethan graduated with bachelor's degrees in mathematics and economics on May 8 and plans on pursuing a master's degree while securing a position in the financial services sector.

With overwhelming support from conference's presidents and athletic administrators, the PAC launched its Scholar-Athlete of the Year Banquet in 2014 as another way to recognize the league's student-athletes for their athletic achievements, excellence in the classroom and outstanding efforts in and around their campus and home communities.

Each of the PAC's 10 full-time member institutions – Bethany College, Chatham University, Franciscan University, Geneva College, Grove City College, Saint Vincent College, Thiel College, Washington & Jefferson College, Waynesburg University and Westminster College, along with football affiliates Carnegie Mellon University and Case Western Reserve University – continue to be represented by some of their most distinguished and decorated student-athletes.
