Trio of Bison Earn All-PAC Baseball Honors

May 17 – GREENVILLE, Pa. – Led by a Second-Team All-Presidents' Athletic Conference selection for junior Zack Miller (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin), a total of three Bison baseball players earned all-conference distinction, as announced by the PAC on Tuesday afternoon.

Along with Miller earning second-team laurels, senior Ryan Bisi (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) and freshman Kevin Marthinsen (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair) were named honorable mention selections.

Miller earned his first all-conference selection this season with his second-team distinction. The junior hit .288 on the season while leading the Green & White in RBIs (17). His 36 hits also ranked first on the roster, as did his 12 walks. Miller finished the season with five doubles and a triple, while ranking second on the team in runs scored (16).

Defensively, Miller was solid at shortstop. The junior appeared in all 38 games, posting a fielding percentage of .951 while ranking second in the conference in assists (131). He also had a hand in turning 28 double plays, third most in the PAC.

At the dish, Miller posted 10 multi-hit games and four-multi RBI performances, both which led the team. He tallied at least three hits, three separate times and had a streak of 10-consecutive games in which he reached base.

Bisi earned his second-consecutive All-PAC Honorable Mention selection after leading the Bison pitching staff during his senior campaign. Bisi appeared in eight games on the mound while making seven starts. He tallied a team-best 3.04 earned-run average in 47.1 innings of work, while tossing three complete games.

Bisi held his opponents to a .275 batting average and set down 17 batters via strikeout. He surrendered just 16 earned runs throughout the season, while allowing only 50 hits (team best among qualifying pitchers).

Perhaps Bisi's best performances came against some of the top competition in the PAC. Bisi pitched against PAC Champion, Thomas More College, on two separate occasions, allowing just three runs in 14.2 innings of work. In six of his eight appearances, Bisi allowed two earned runs or fewer.

Marthinsen produced a solid freshman campaign en route to earning his first all-conference honorable mention distinction. The third baseman appeared in 32 games while making 31 starts.

Marthinsen led the Bison at the dish, hitting .316 with a team-best .439 slugging percentage. He led the Green & White in extra-base hits, collecting six doubles and a pair of home runs. He also fielded his position well, posting a fielding percentage better than .900.

The freshman completed the 2016 campaign with 31 hits, 12 RBIs and an on-base percentage of .412. He notched eight multi-hit games on the season, including a team-best 4-for-4 effort with a pair of RBIs in a 13-3 victory over Pitt-Greensburg.

The all-conference recognition marks the second-straight season that the Bison have placed three members on the list.
