Bison Baseball Swept by Marywood

March 11 – FORT PIERCE, Fla. – The Bethany College baseball team wrapped up their season-opening eight-game trip to Fort Pierce, Florida by dropping a pair of games to Marywood University on Friday afternoon. The Green & White fell 5-0 in game one, before suffering a 9-4 setback in game two.

In the first game, the Bison managed one hit in the game as Marywood used a four-run fourth inning to hand the Green & White a 5-0 loss. Freshman pitcher Nick Gross (Pittsburgh/North Allegheny) got the start for Bethany, throwing five innings while striking out three batters. 

Game two saw the Racers once again jump out to an early lead, posting a run in the top of the first before capturing four more in the top of the third.


Bethany countered the early offensive output by responding with two runs in both the bottom of the third and bottom of the fourth innings. The Bison finished the game with seven total hits.


Holding a 6-4 lead, Marywood expanded their advantage in the late stages of the game, posting a run in the top of the fifth inning and adding a pair in the visitor half of the seventh, rounding out the 9-4 score.


Ryan Bisi (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) got the start on the mound for the Green & White, allowing four runs in 2.1 innings of work, striking out three.


The Bison finished their spring break trip to Fort Pierce with a mark of 3-5. Bethany will open the home portion of their schedule on Wednesday, March 16 when they host La Roche College for a non-conference matchup. The game at the newly renovated Bethany Field is scheduled for a 3:00 p.m. first pitch.
