Strong Offense Leads to Sweep Over Lions

Bethany, W. Va - The Bethany College baseball team swept Penn St.-Beaver in a non-conference double header Thursday afternoon at Bethany Park. The Bison start the season 4-0 for the first time since the 2010 season.

Game One Overview
Bethany defeated Penn St.-Beaver 5-2.

The Lions struck first scoring two runs in the first inning. The Bison answered in the bottom of the first with an RBI from Tyler Frazee, scoring Brandon Wagner. The Bison bats were quiet until the bottom of the sixth inning. Back to back walks drawn from Frazee and Kevin Roach got the Bison started in the sixth. Ethan Young singled to load the bases for Noah Rady. Rady took advantage of the bases being juiced, hitting a shot down the right field line, with a bases clearing triple. A Wagner single later scored Rady giving the Bison a 5-2 lead.

Game Two Overview
Bethany defeated Penn St.-Beaver 9-0

Bethany took a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Kevin Roach scored off of a double play from the bat of Josh Lonero. The Bison tacked on four more runs in the fifth inning. Kyle Goodwin singled scoring Tyler Alworth and Ethan Young. A Neil Woods double scored Goodwin moments later. Noah Rady continued the scoring frenzy driving in Tyler Frazee. In the bottom of the sixth the green and white sealed the win with a single from Goodwin, scoring Ryan Anselmino. A couple of batters later, Neil Woods gets his first homerun of the season, with a shot over the left field wall, scoring three. The Bison won 9-0. Bethany had six different pitchers throw in the second game of the double-header. The green and white arms combined for 7.0 innings, giving up four hits, no runs, and struck out five.
