Offense Explodes for 18 Runs in Baseball Sweep

Latrobe, Pa - The Bethany College baseball team took on St. Vincent College in a PAC double-header Wednesday afternoon in Latrobe, Pa. The Bison took both games from the Bearcats.

Game One Overview

Bethany defeated St. Vincent, 5-1  

Bethany took a 1-0 lead in the first inning. The Bearcats knotted the ballgame at one with a solo homerun in the fourth inning. In the top of the seventh, the Bison scored four runs on five hits and one error to take a four run lead over the Bearcats. Tyler Alworth led the inning off with a pinch hit single. A bunt single from Brandon Wagner put runners on first and second. Ethan Young singled to give Noah Rady bases loaded and no outs. The Bison capitalized with a sacrifice fly from Rady, scoring Alworth. Neil Woods drove in Wagner and Young to give the Bison a 4-1 lead. Moments later, Ryan Anselmino doubled driving in Woods. Isaac Wengert picked up the win pitching two scoreless innings.

Game Two Overview
Bethany rolled past St. Vincent, 13-2

Bethany struck in the top of the first and never looked back. The Bison bats were hot today against the Bearcats scoring 13 runs on 17 hits. Kevin Roach singled to centerfield, driving in Noah Rady. In the third inning, Brandon Wagner reached base on a fielding error. A couple pitches later, Rady went yard putting the Bison ahead, 3-0.

In the sixth inning, the Bison strung together eight runs on 10 hits. Bethany started the inning from singles from Roach, Ryan Anselmino, and Tyler Frazee, giving Tyler Alworth bases loaded. Alworth singled to left field driving in Roach and Anselmino. Kyle Goodwin reached on a bunt single, giving Wagner bases loaded. Wagner sent the ball into left field, scoring Alworth and Frazee. Rady drove in Wagner and Goodwin with a shot to right field. Roach continued the inning, singling to center field, scoring Rady. Anselmino drove in Woods with a single to the shortstop. The green and white led 11-0 after six. The Bison tacked on two runs in the eighth inning from a Neil Woods long ball and Kyle Goodwin drove in Ryan Anselmino.
