Offense Explodes for 21 Runs in Win at Chatham

Pittsburgh, Pa - The Bethany College baseball team took on the Chatham Cougars in a nine inning contest Friday afternoon. The Bison exploded for 21 runs on 16 hits defeating the Cougars, 21-8. Senior Nick Gross picked up his 100th career strikeout today in the win. With four strikeouts today, Gross is now tied for 10th all-time in school history with 102 strikeouts. Neil Woods was a homerun shy of the cycle and Tyler Alworth and Tyler Frazee had five RBI's each.

Bethany rolled past Chatham, 21-8

The Bison took a quick 2-0 lead in the first inning. Neil Woods tripled to center field scoring Noah Rady. Moments later, Tyler Frazee drove in Woods. The Cougars got on the scoreboard in the bottom half in the inning. In the second and third inning, the green and white added three runs to go ahead 5-1. Chatham wouldn't back down, going ahead 6-5 in the fourth inning. The Bison didn't let the five run inning phase them. In the fifth inning, Tyler Alworth singled scoring Neil Woods. Ethan Young would reach base on a fielding error allowing Tyler Frazee to score giving the Bison back the lead.

 

Bethany was in full control after regaining the lead back. The Bison scored four runs in the sixth inning and added five more in the seventh. The green and white scored in every inning except the fourth inning. Eight different players had an RBI and all nine starters reached base safely.
