BETHANY, W.Va. (Dec. 13) – Bethany College long snapper Zach Lowe (Jacksonville, Fla./Bishop Kenny) was selected a College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) First-Team Academic All-American on Wednesday afternoon.

Lowe becomes the fourth football player in school history to be named an Academic All-American and first since wide receiver Johnathan Foster in 2012.

Lowe, a senior political science major with minors in history and criminal justice, recently wrapped up his football career as a mainstay on the Bison special teams unit. He has appeared in all 41 games since his freshman season as the long snapper and tallied 10 tackles on special teams. Lowe has also been named to the PAC Academic Honor Roll following each season and was named to the All-PAC Sportsmanship Team this year. The Jacksonville native was also voted as Bethany's Homecoming King at the annual homecoming football game this fall.

Lowe, who is the grandson of Bethany Hall of Famer, former Athletic Director and Board of Trustee member Bob Goin, is the 16th CoSIDA Academic All-American all-time at Bethany and the first since 2012 when Foster and volleyball playerJessica Zavatchen were both named first-team selections.

To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must maintain a cumulative 3.30 GPA or higher and must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their institution. Nominees also must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games and be a starter or important reserve.
