Game Notes: Bethany Looks to Kickoff PAC Play Strong

LAST MEETING: The Bethany College football team handed Grove City a 27-7 loss last season on a rainy afternoon at Bison Stadium. The Bison capitalized on the Wolverine's miscues as 20 of Bethany's points came from Grove City turnovers. Defensively, the Green and White shined as it tallied three sacks for a total loss of 10 yards and caused one of Grove City's four fumbles.

GARVEY VERSUS GROVE CITY: Head Coach Bill Garvey's Bethany teams are 6-0 versus Grove City and have out-scored the Wolverines 229-121 during that stretch. The Bison offense has averaged 38.2 points and 442 yards of total offense per game in those meetings.

RECOVERY SPECIALIST: The Bison forced three fumbles and recovered all three against Ursinus last Saturday. Senior safety Kiandre Murphy recovered two of the fumbles for a total of 11 yards.

HIGHWAY ROBBERY: The Bethany defense had seven takeaways last week, including two from freshman Dadrick Vickers. Vickers had two interceptions for a total of eight yards. While freshman Danny Gilbert Jr. snatched one away from the Bears offense and ran it back for 49 yards. The Bison defense currently ranks first in the NCAA DIII stats with a turnover margin of 6.00.

THE LONG BALL: Three Bison receivers had at least one reception for 25 yards or more. Senior wide receiver Hunter Klein led all receivers with 80 yards on six receptions and 13.3 yards per catch.

125 YEARS OF BETHANY FOOTBALL: Each week Bethany Game notes will consist of a look back in Bison football history. Bethany will play its 125th season of football in 2019 and the Bison will celebrate the rich tradition and history of the program throughout the year by honoring the great games, moments, teams, players, coaches and staff from the past on November 9. Kickoff is set for 1:25 pm.

A LOOK BACK IN TIME: Tyler Ambush pulled in 18 receptions against Thiel on September, 17 2016. Also, on September 17, 2016, Chase Kinemond tallied 38 completions and 511 yards of total offense.
