LAST MEETING: Last time out against the Presidents, the No. 12 ranked Washington & Jefferson football team jumped out to a 14-0 lead and held on for a 27-20 win over the Bison. A Carlin Bason 6 yard run cut the Presidents' lead 14-7. The junior quarterback led the Bison with three touchdowns for 143 total rushing yards. Defensively the Bison defense tallied 5 sacks for a loss of 33 yards.

 

TAKING IT YARD: Senior quarterback Carlin Bason has three rushing touchdowns this season of 49+ yards. Bason rushed for a season long 56 yard touchdown against Waynesburg, and had a 54 yard touchdown on Saturday against Westminster at home.

 

TOP TACKLER: Kiandre Murphy has emerged as the Bison's top tackler over the past two games. Murphy has 33 tackles (23 solo, 10 assists) over four games. The senior defensive back has one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries for the Bison defense. Murphy ranks 10th in the PAC for total tackles (all positions) and first for fumbles recovered.

 

A LOOK BACK IN TIME: On October, 8 1954 the green and white opened the season with a 33-7 victory over the Bobcats. The following year, on October, 7 1955 the Bison opened up their season with a 28-6 victory over West Virginia Wesleyan. Dick Lash scored three touchdowns to spark the herd. Back to back years the Bison sparked their season with victories over the Bobcats. On October 1, 1987 junior quarterback Tracey Finchum went 27-51 with 390 yards. The 390 yards and 27 completions broke PAC records in those categories.

 

125 YEARS OF BETHANY FOOTBALL: Each week Bethany Game notes will consist of a look back in Bison football history. Bethany will play its 125th season of football in 2019 and the Bison will celebrate the rich tradition and history of the program throughout the year by honoring the great games, moments, teams, players, coaches and staff from the past on November 9. Kickoff is set for 1:25 pm.
