LAST MEETING: The Bison rolled past the Tomcats, 20-0 last season. The Bison took the lead with 1:55 remaining in the first quarter when Joseph Fiasco scored on a 1-yard run to cap off a 5-play drive that covered 42 yards. Fiasco's touchdown represented the only points scored in the first half. Fiasco extended the Bison lead to 13-0 with 4:56 left in the third quarter when he scored on a 3-yard run to put the finishing touches on a 6-play drive that took two minutes, 14 seconds and covered 55 yards. Bethany's final score occurred early in the fourth quarter when Dom Salinetro threw a 32-yard touchdown pass to Darius Taylor.
FINISHING STRONG: Bethany has won their final two contests over the last four seasons outscoring opponents 290-155 while averaging 36.25 points a game and holding opponents to just 19.36 a game.
A LOOK BACK IN TIME: Back on November, 8, 1969, Ernie Whitted set the single game record with 45 rushing attempts with five touchdowns in the victory over W&J, 33-7. Whitted is still the record holder today.
THROWING IT BACK 125 YEARS OF BETHANY FOOTBALL: Bethany College celebrates 125 years of Bison Football this Saturday against the Thiel Tomcats. The Bison will honor the rich tradition and history of the program throughout the year by honoring the great games, moments, teams, players, coaches and staff from the past.
IN MEMORIAM: Former Bethany College Coach and Athletic Director Robert "Bob" G. Goin '59 passed away suddenly on Oct. 12 at the age of 83. Memorial Services will be held at Bethany College on November 10, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. inside Hummel Field House. After graduating from Bethany College in 1959 as a standout athlete in football and basketball, Goin returned to his alma mater in 1960 to serve in athletics for 16 years. Goin started off his professional career at Bethany as an assistant coach and became head baseball coach (1962-1969). He quickly took on the role of head football coach (1963-1972) the next year. Under Goin's leadership, the Bethany football team won back-to-back Presidents' Athletic Conference football championships in 1965 and 1966 and scored its only undefeated season in the history of Bethany football in 1966. Additionally, the baseball team won its first PAC baseball championship in 1965.
