Phillips Named Newcomer of the Week, Again

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - For the second straight week, and the third time this season, freshman quarterback Brett Phillips has been honored by the Presidents' Athletic Conference for his work on the gridiron.

The signal caller from Wheeling, W.Va. was named the PAC Newcomer of the Week, the league announced today (Monday, November 11, 2024).

"Brett competed for four quarters and did whatever it took to leave with a winHe's had several great performances this fall but this one was the most impressive to me because of the toughness he displayed play in and play out.

He shook off an interception in the endzone on the first drive to throw for 284 yards on 19-of-34 passing with three touchdowns. He contributed 44 rushing yards on 12 attempts as Bethany snapped a 27-game losing streak. His 81-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter gave Bethany the lead they wouldn't relinquish.

Phillips helped out Bethany in position to win with a 14-yard touchdown pass on fourth down late in the fourth quarter.

He is 153-of-272 passing with 1,824 yards, which is fourth in the PAC, and 16 touchdowns.

Freshman Ray Adames, who had seven catches for 136 yards receiving with one touchdown, was named to the Offensive Player Honor Roll, while junior Sonny Fox – who recorded 15 tackles, one sack, and a forced fumble – earned a spot on the Defensive Player Honor Roll.
