Truex claims PAC Player of the Week honors

GREENVILLE, Pa. (Feb. 12) - After helping the Bethany College men's basketball team win twice last week, sophomore forward Chaice Truex (Wheeling, W.Va./St. John's Central (Ohio)) was named the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Player of the Week announced the league office Monday afternoon.

Truex averaged 19.5 points and 6.0 rebounds in wins over Saint Vincent and Washington & Jefferson that have propelled the Bison into second place in the PAC standings. He finished with 12 points and a team-best eight rebounds in a crucial win at Saint Vincent Wednesday, before closing the week with a career-high 27 points at W&J on Saturday. Truex made 11-of-17 from the field at W&J, including three of his four three-point attempts.

For the week he shot 53.6 percent (15-of-28) from the field, 57.1 percent (4-of-7) from three-point range and 83.3 percent (5-of-6) from the free-throw line.

A four-time PAC Rookie of the Week last season, Truex ranks in the top-10 of the league in both points and rebounds per game. He ranks ninth in the PAC with 14.3 points per game and fifth with 7.0 rebounds per game this season.

Truex and the Bison (13-10, 13-3 PAC) control their own destiny for a top-two seed in next week's PAC Tournament. Bethany hosts Chatham on Wednesday, February 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the home finale, before closing the regular-season at Grove City on Saturday, February 17 at 3 p.m.
