Men’s Basketball falls to Wilkes University in first game of the Rinso Marquette Tourney, 88-68

ANNVILLE, PA- The Bethany College men's basketball team was dealt a 88-68 loss to Wilkes University in the first round of the Rinso Marquette Tourney. The Bison are now 0-3 to start the season and will take on Bryn Athyn College at 1pm on Saturday.

The Bison were led by Junior Trey Shifflett (York, Pa/ William Penn) with 16 points, six assists while going 8-17 from the field. Junior Aiden Albert (Saxonburg, Pa/Knoch) added 15 points, senior Malik Ellis (Richmond, Va/Life Christian Academy) and freshman Trez Jones (Pittsburgh, Pa/Obama Academy) each added 10 points to round out the top scorers for the Bison.

Allayasa Bray (Pittsburg, Pa/ Obama Academy) grabbed a team high seven rebounds while dishing out four assists, Khalil Wilson (Pittsburgh, Pa/Woodland Hills) pulled in six rebounds and six points to contribute for the Bison.

Bethany College shot 25-62 (40.3%) from the floor for the game while Wilkes University went 29-63 (46.0%). The Colonials out rebounded the Bison 47-35 and went 24-35 at the charity stripe while the Bison were 12-18.

During the first half neither team led by more than five points, the Colonials closed the half with a 40-35 lead over the Bison. A 16-0 run in the opening minutes of the second half broke open the Colonials lead over the Bison and never turned back. Bethany would cut the lead to 17 but could never get over that mark.

The Colonials were led by Rob Pecorelli with 29 points and Marcus Robinson added 22 points.
