Bethany Falls 79-63 at Penn St Altoona

Altoona, Pa- The Bethany College Men's Basketball team fall to 1-4 after losing to Penn St. Altoona, 79-63 Tuesday evening.

The Bison were led by Freshman Allayasa Bray (Pittsburgh, Pa/Obama Academy) with 13 points and Junior Trey Shifflett (York, Pa/ William Penn) with 12 points. Freshman Khalil Wilson (Pittsburgh, Pa/Woodland Hills) and Sophomore Logan Wolverton (Byesville, Oh/Meadowbrooke) round out the leading scorers with eight points a piece.

Bray also led the Green and White with five rebounds and also dished out four assists. Shifflett, Wolverton, and Trez Jones (Pittsburgh, Pa/Obama Academy) each grabbed four rebounds for the Bison. Bethany was out rebounded 41-29, giving up 13 second chance points.

Bethany trailed the entire game giving up a 21-4 run in the first seven minutes of the contest. Battling back into the game, the Bison went on a 21-10 run and lessened the gap to six points. Brey would lay in three straight lay-ups cutting the lead to nine. The Bison would cut the lead to 31-25.

The green and white would continue to chip away, but gave up layups to Y'shua Bragg (Pittsburgh, Pa/Carrick) and Malcolm Martin (Chicago, IL/Chicago Vocational) would give the Lions back a ten point lead. Another layup before the half would make the lead 43-31.

In the early stages of the second half the Bison would continue to climb back and cut the lead to four (52-48) with treys from Jones and Wolverton. However the Lions would answer back with threes of their own. The Lions would continue to answer all efforts of the Bison's comeback. The Green and White would end up losing by 16.

The Lions were led by Malcolm Martin, Austin Krise (Allport, Pa/West Branch), and Shevelle Bailey (Titusville, FL/Titusville), with 13 points a piece.

The Bison (1-4) look to bounce back next Wednesday the 28th at home as they take on Geneva at 7:30pm to kick off conference play.
