Men's Basketball Drops Overtime Thriller to Grove City

Bethany, W. Va- The Bethany College men's basketball dropped and overtime thriller against Grove City, 66-65, Saturday afternoon, inside Hummel Field House. The Bison were led by freshman Allayasa Bray with 16 points, shooting 2-3 from behind the arc and hitting 6-9 from the charity stripe. In the loss, the green and white are now 2-17 (1-9) while the Wolverines are now 11-8 (6-5).

GAME OVERVIEW

1st – Grove City jumped out to a 4-0 lead before a Carter Adams three at the end of the shot clock put the Bison on the board. Bethany and Grove City went neck and neck, answering the opponent's shots. The Bison took a 12-10 lead from an Aiden Albert three.

Both teams continued to battle for the lead. Bethany trailed by six before cutting the lead to one, 20-19, from a Dylan Furlong three with seven minutes to go in the first half. The Bison trailed by as many as seven before cutting the lead to four, from a Logan Wolverton shot from behind the arc, 31-27.

2nd- Bethany and Grove City battled throughout the second half. The Bison took the lead from an Allayasa Bray jumper, with 15 minutes to go in the half, 36-35. However, the Wolverines answered to regain the lead.

An Albert three with 30 seconds to go in the game put Bethany ahead 59-58. Moments later, Derek White Jr. knocked in one of two free throws to put the Bison ahead two, 60-58. A foul with six seconds to go put the Wolverines at the line, sending the game into overtime.

OT- Logan Wolverton put the Bison ahead to start extra period of play, 62-60, but the Wolverines wouldn't back down, knocking in a jumper of their own, knotting the game for the fifth time. The Bison regained the lead, with another Albert three, 65-62. A steal from the Wolverines, with under a minute to go, knotted the game at 65-65. A late foul, put the Wolverines at the foul line, putting them ahead, 66-65.
