Captains Cruise By Bison

Newport News, Va. – The Bethany College men's basketball team traveled Newport News, Va. for the Captains Shootout, hosted by the Christopher Newport University Captains. The Bison squared off against the Captains in the second game of the shootout, Saturday afternoon inside the Freeman Center. The Captains cruised by the Bison, 96-52. Dylan Furlong led the Bison with 11 points.

GAME OVERVIEW

Both teams opened the contest slow. Dylan Furlong lifted the lid for the Bison with a jumper. The game was knotted at 2-2 for the first three minutes of the game, with the Captains taking a 4-2 lead. A pair of freebies from the charity stripe from Dalton Hamrick, knotted the game at 4-4. The Captains regained the lead and kept building from that point on. The Bison trailed 43-25 at the break.

The Bison were held scoreless for the first four minutes in the second half. Furlong hit a jumper from behind the arc for the Bison at the 16:23 mark. The Bison's deficit was too much to overcome for the Captains led by as many as 44 in the second half. The Captains shot 44.9% while the Bison shot 29.0%. Bethany was out hustled on the boards, 59-36.
