Men's Basketball Falls in Final Minute to Saint Vincent

Bethany, W.Va – The Bethany College men's basketball team returned to Hummel Field House for a PAC matchup against the Saint Vincent Bearcats. The Bison fell to the Bearcats in the final minute, 67-66. Khalil Wilson led the Green and White with 17 points and eight rebounds.

GAME OVERVIEW

An Aiden Albert three put the Bison on the board first to open up the ball game. After back to back jumpers from Neshawn Brown and Dalton Hamrick, the Bison jumped out to a 7-2 lead. The Bearcats clawed back to cut the lead but the Bison were able to maintain a narrow lead throughout the first half. Bethany led 33-31 at the half.

In the second half the Bearcats clawed back and battled back and forth with the Bison. Saint Vincent opened the half with a jumper to tie the game, but a Khalil Wilson shot from behind the arc gave the Bison the lead back. However, the Green and White didn't lead long, the Bearcats hit a three of their own to tie the game once again.

Bethany and Saint Vincent went neck and neck for the final half, in the final minute, both teams were knotted at 64-64 before a Bearcat free throw gave them a 65-64 lead. Seconds later, Trey Shifflett nailed a jumper to give the Bison the 66-65 lead, with 38 seconds left in the game. Unfortunately, the Bison defense would allow a Bearcat layup, giving up the lead. With almost two seconds on the clock, the Green and White called a timeout to set up a play for a chance to win the game, however Saint Vincent defense was tight and kept the Bison from getting a good shot off, hanging onto a one point lead for the win.
