Reasbeck, Dailey Explode in Victory
Junior Cole Dailey recorded his fourth consecutive double-double and six different players reached double figures as the Bethany College men's basketball team remained unbeaten with the 105-93 victory over reigning University Athletic Association champion Case Western Reserve Thursday in non-conference action at Joe Kurey Memorial Court in Hummel Field House.
For the second straight contest, Dailey pulled down a career-high 18 rebounds to go along with 17 points, seven assists, and four blocks. He needs just two blocks to become the program's all-time blocks leader.
Bethany used a 25-4 run in the second half to turn a one-point lead into a 22-point advantage. Five different players scored, but it was juniors Troy Hixson and Ryan Reasbeck who combined for 14 points.
However, the championship mettle of the Spartans went on display as Case Western Reserve crashed the offensive glass to the tune of nine offensive rebounds as it got as close as nine. Despite the burst of offensive rebounds and second-chance points during the last-gasp effort, CWR still lost the battle of second-chance points, 23-20.
The black-clad Bison also had a huge run in the first half as Bethany opened up a 14-point lead thanks to a 16-2 run. Freshman Jess Roller was the primary culprit in the spurt with seven points.
Case continued to chip away at its deficit, and trailed by just one, 46-45, at the half.
Reasbeck finished with a career-high 29 points on 10-of-15 shooting, including 4-of-6 from three-point range, with four rebounds. It's the second 20-point game this season.
Three different Bison – Hixson, Roller, and sophomore Ben Guffey – all had 14 points in the game. Sophomore Will Brooks added 13 points and five boards in the win.
