BETHANY, W.Va. (Mar. 23) - The Bethany College men's lacrosse team fell 17-4 to Washington & Jefferson in an Ohio River Lacrosse Conference (ORLC) matchup on Saturday.
Bethany falls to 3-5 overall and 0-2 in the ORLC, while W&J improves to 3-5 overall and 2-0 in the conference this season.
Tyler Peck (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) netted two goals on the day to go along with two assists and Jake Holland (Canton, Ohio/Jackson) also scored a pair of goals, while adding an assist. Goalkeeper Sean Rhodes (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) stopped 15 shots in the loss.
The Bison got the scoring started when Holland took a pass from Peck and ripped it past the goalie in the first 30 seconds of the game. The Presidents answered back several minutes later.
At the 3:51 mark of the first quarter, Peck tallied his first goal of the afternoon; however, the visitors had the quick answer to send it to the second quarter tied at two.
From there, W&J scored four consecutive goals to open the quarter before going into halftime with the 8-4 lead.
Next up, Bethany travels to Muskingum on Wednesday, March 29 for a non-conference matchup set to begin at 5 p.m.
