Bison knocked off by Franciscan, 18-7

BETHANY, W.Va. (April 4) - The Bethany College lacrosse team dropped a non-conference matchup to Franciscan 18-7 on Wednesday afternoon in a home game for the Barons that was played at Bison Stadium.

With the loss, Bethany drops to 3-8 on the year, while Franciscan improves to 5-4 overall.

Tyler Peck (Pittsburgh, Pa./Shaler) scored a season-high four goals to lead The Green and White. Will Gatling (Baltimore, Md./Northwestern), Dan Booth (Stockport, Manchester, England/Poynton), and Christopher Isaacs (Norwalk, Conn./Brien McMahon) also found the back of the net once apiece. Jake Holland (Canton, Ohio/Jackson) and Anthony Helias (Erie, Pa./McDowell) each contributed two assists apiece.

The game opened at a slow pace with only one goal scored in the first 10 minutes with the Barons cracking the board first at the 9:24 mark. 

Six minutes later, Peck picked up his first goal on a pass from Holland. 

However, Franciscan had the quick answer pulling out two goals in less than a minute to regain the lead at 3-1. Gatling ended the quarter by cutting into the lead with a goal, making it 3-2 after one.

The second quarter saw the same back-and-forth scoring effort. 

Isaacs opened up the quarter with an un-assisted score, but just a minute later Franciscan answered right back. Over the final ten minutes of the first half, both teams traded goals into the half with Franciscan leading 7-6.

Peck opened the second half with a goal to tie it up at 7 but the Barons went on to close out the game scoring 11 unanswered.

Next up, Bethany travels to Westminster for an ORLC contest on Saturday, April 15 thats set to start at 1pm.
