Lacrosse concludes season with loss to Saint Vincent

BETHANY, W.Va. (April 27) - The Bethany College men's lacrosse team had its season conclude with a 22-7 loss to Saint Vincent in an Ohio River Lacrosse Conference (ORLC) contest Thursday evening at Bison Stadium.

The loss ends the Bison season at 3-12 overall, 0-7 in league play. Meanwhile, the Bearcats improve to 5-1 in the ORLC, 7-7 overall.

Senior Jake Holland (Canton, Ohio/Jackson) wrapped up the most decorated Bethany lacrosse career in program history with two goals and two assists in the loss. Holland finishes his Bison career as the program leader in goals (84), assists (98) and points (182) all-time.

Sophomores Will Gatling (Baltimore, Md./Northwestern) and Dan Booth (Stockport, Manchester, England/Poynton) each contributed identical lines of two goals and one assist, while sophomore Brian Weakliem (Montgomery, N.J./Montgomery) added one goal.

Saint Vincent opened the game with three-straight goals, before Gatling broke the run with a marker at 4:58 to cut the deficit to 3-1. The two teams traded goals to close out the first quarter at 4-2, but the Bearcats scored the first four goals in the second period to open up an 8-2 lead.

Saint Vincent took an 11-4 lead into the half and continued to build on it in the second half, out-scoring the Bison 11-3 to wrap up the game.

Junior goalkeeper Sean Rhodes (Indiana, Pa./Indiana) finished the game with 14 saves in the game.

Prior to the game, Bethany honored its three senior lacrosse players, including Holland, Dominic Halstead (Columbia, Md./Wilde Lake) and Cody Bergman (Butler, Pa./Pine-Richland).
