Bethany Men’s Soccer Cruises to 6-2 Victory Over UPG

Sept. 21 – LATROBE, Pa. – The Bethany men's soccer team defeated Pitt-Greensburg 6-2 on Wednesday in a night game played at Greater Latrobe High School.

The Bison got things started offensively when Adam Franco (Inglewood, Ca./Carter) beat the keeper from the left side in the 13th minute to put the Bison up 1-0 early.

In the 24th minute, Jack Waters (Epsom, United Kingdom/Glyn School) took a pass from Jay O'Donnell (Cardiff, Wales/Radyr Comprehensive ) and found his way past the goalie to give the Bison the 2-0 lead.

Babacour Sellah-Mohammad (Arlington, Va. / Fishburne Military) added to the Bison's advantage when he scored his first collegiate goal in the 33rd minute. Bethany would go into the half with the 3-0 lead.

UPG finally got on the board in the 56th minute on a shot from just inside the 18-yard box to trim the lead to two.

Just five minutes later, Jose Arzate (Waller, Tx. / Waller) netted his third goal of the season with the assist coming from Waters, putting the Bison back up three midway through the second half.

Waters would tally another goal to the score sheet in the 71st minute.

At the 10-minute mark in the second half, Sellah-Mohammad took a free kick where Anthony Bradden (Melbourne, Fla. / Viera) was on the receiving end where he finished by heading it in to the far side of the goalie.

The Bobcats would tally another goal in the final six minutes; however, the Bisons lead was too much to surmount.

Waters lead The Green and White with two goals on four shots. In total, six Bison got off at least two shots in the match.

With the win, Bethany improves to 3-3-2 on the season. Next, they host Wilmington on Saturday at 3:30p.m. at Hoag Field.
