BETHANY, W.Va. (Aug. 8) — Events for the Bethany College 50th Anniversary Celebration of Soccer Weekend spanning from Friday, September 7 through Sunday, September 9 have been unveiled, and online reservations are now being accepted.

"I am thrilled to be a part of the 50th Anniversary Celebration of Soccer," said Steve Thompson, Director of Athletics.  "From the moment I stepped on to campus in July, met with Coach (John) Cunningham and Coach (Sean) Regan, I knew this group was special.  These alums, much like alums from our other championship programs have remained close to each other, close to their legendary coach, and close to their program.  They are proof, if you want to be remembered, if you want to leave a legacy; work hard, work together and success on the field and in life will come."

The Celebration Weekend will kick off Friday, September 7 around 10:45 a.m. with tee times reserved at the Jones Course at Oglebay Resort. The day will conclude with a meet and greet at Wilson Lodge.

A full slate of events is scheduled the following day on Saturday, September 8, beginning at 10:30 a.m. with an alumni game at the Cunningham Complex. Following the alumni game, a barbecue lunch will be provided at Hoag Field, where Bethany will take on Muskingum in the opening game of the Fuzzy Williams Classic at noon. Attendees are encouraged to register to be recognized during a halftime ceremony at the game. The second game of the Classic will feature Franciscan and Alfred State around 2:30 p.m.

The evening will conclude at 7 p.m. with a 50th Anniversary Dinner at Old Main. Admission is $60 per adult and provides a gift, two glasses of wine or two beers, and the buffet dinner. Tickets must be purchased in advance.

The weekend will wrap-up on Sunday, September 9 with the final two games of the Fuzzy Williams Classic. Muskingum and Franciscan will play the opener at noon, while Bethany and Alfred State will follow around 2:30 p.m.

Hotel accommodations will be available at Oglebay Park with booking code LNRbethany.
