Bison men improve season marks at Bethany Mini-Meet

BETHANY, W.Va. (April 18) - The Bison men's track & field team fared well at the Bethany Mini-Meet, formally known as the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Quad South, Wednesday evening.

Sophomore Baboucar Sallah-Mohammed (Arlington, Va./Fishburne Military) established a new stadium-record in the long jump with a distance of 7.06 meters (23 feet, 1.9 inches). Sallah-Mohammad also won the triple jump with a leap of 13.13 meters (43 feet, 0.9 inches), turned in a fifth-place finish in the high jump (1.78 meters), and placed second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.43 seconds. His distance in the long jump and time in the 200 now sit atop the PAC this season.

Senior Lee Sanders (Waldorf, Md./McDonough) and freshman Michael Speedy (Irondale, Ohio/Edison) were both just behind Sallah-Mohammed in the long jump. Sanders finished third with a mark of 6.48 meters, while Speedy took fourth with a jump of 6.46 meters. Speedy has the second-best mark in the PAC this season, while Sanders ranks fourth on the league's performance list in the long jump. 

Senior Ed Maxwell (Germantown, Md./Seneca Valley) won the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 57.10 seconds to establish a new season-best and top-time on the PAC performance list. He also placed second in the 110-meter hurdles at 16.24 seconds.

Junior Marshall Murray (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) finished third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 51.37 seconds.

Senior Donald Bierhals (Cabot, Pa./Knoch) crossed the finish-line in second place in the 800-meter run with a final time of two minutes, 1.41 seconds. His time was two-tenths behind the event winner. Senior Robert Newhart (Shadyside, Ohio/Shadyside) and sophomore David Tome (Madrid, Spain/Alameda de Osuna) finished in fifth and sixth place, respectively, and less than four seconds behind Bierhals.

Junior Alexander Michanlenko (Moon Twp., Pa./OLSH) finished fourth in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 10 minutes, 53.76 seconds.

The Bison will now prepare for the PAC Championships which are on April 25-26 at Westminster College in New Wilimington, Pennsylvania.
