Moore tabbed softball head coach

BETHANY, W.Va. (July 5) – Bethany has named Cassie Moore as its next Head Softball Coach announced the College Thursday morning. Moore replaces Jan Forsty, who retired at the conclusion of this past season following a 31-year coaching career.
Moore comes to the northern panhandle after a one-year stint as an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Coker College in Hartsville, South Carolina this past season. The Cobras were the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) Tournament runner-up and received an at-large big into the NCAA Tournament with a 36-18 overall record.
Moore worked primarily with the Coker pitchers and helped the team achieve a 2.72 team ERA this past season. The Cobra pitching staff posted twelve shutouts, including a perfect game on February 20 at Claflin. Moore helped with the development of D2CCA All-Region pitcher Christine Carver, who was the SAC leader in ERA and was named the National Fastpitch Coaches of America (NFCA) National Player of the Week after throwing a perfect game.

"She understands the Division III student-athlete experience and everything we are striving to achieve at Bethany and we couldn't be more excited that she is joining our team."
Before joining the Coker staff, Moore worked at the BASH Sports Academy in Chicago, Illinois as a softball coach. She taught individual and small group lessons of pitching, hitting, and defense for ages 8-18 and also led clinics and camps for BASH and community organizations.
Moore spent the 2016 season as the head coach at NCAA Division III Newbury College near Boston, Massachusetts. She was appointed head coach during the middle of the academic year and converted shortstop Alina Milauskis from a position player into a pitcher that won 17 games for the Nighthawks.
Prior to her time at Newbury, Moore was the head coach at Genesee Community College in Batavia, New York from 2013-15. The Cougars won their first conference championship (WNYAC) in school history under Moore's tutelage, had the first All-American athlete selected, and won Coach of the Year, all in the 2015 season. The team also was the regional championship runner-up, ranked second in NJCAA Division III for batting average against, and won the Genesee Athletics "Quantum Leap" Award for being the most improved sports team. In total, Moore coached 11 all-conference and three all-region selections during her tenure.
Moore attended Mars Hill University, where she graduated magna cum laude in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in English. While there, she played on the softball team for two seasons, one as a captain, before her career was cut short by multiple injuries. She recently earned a Master's of Arts in Liberal Arts from Fort Hays State University.
She was a part of the PIAA Western Finalist (State Championship Final Four) softball team at Northwestern Senior High School in Albion, Pennsylvania in 2002 and was named a first-team All-Erie County outfielder in both 2002 and 2003.
Moore is a yoga instructor, gaining her certification in November 2011. She has also been a National Fastpitch Coaches Association Member since 2013 and Amateur Softball Association (renamed USA Softball in January 2017) Coach/Member since 2015.
