Bison Swept on First Day in Florida

Clearmont, Florida - The Bethany College softball team kicked off their spring break trip in Clearmont, Florida Monday afternoon against Ripon and Trinity.

Game One Overview
Bethany fell to Ripon, 5-0
Bethany and Ripon battled throughout the first four innings. There were just two hits given up between the two teams until the fourth inning. The Bison led the fourth inning off with a double from Jennifer Oberthur. Kayla Dinsmore singled, advancing Oberthur to third. The Bison were unable to get the run across, stranding Dinsmore on base. In the bottom of the fourth the Red Hawks took a 1-0 lead and added on four more runs in the bottom of the fifth.

Game Two Overview
Bethany fell to Trinity, 9-3
Trinity took a 6-0 lead after the top of the fourth inning. In the bottom of the fourth, Bethany plated a run with a sacrifice fly from Paige Allen, scoring Gabby Capaldi. The Bison added another run in the bottom of the fifth inning. Fran Capaldi singled driving in Janaya Hazlip, cutting the Bantams' lead to 6-2. In the bottom of the sixth, Jennifer Oberthur drove in Paige Allen, cutting the Bantams' in half, 6-3. The Bison would give up two more runs to the Bantams in the top of the seventh.
