Softball Falls in PAC Opener

Bethany, W. Va - The Bethany College softball team took on the Geneva Golden Tornadoes to open PAC play on Tuesday afternoon at Bison Field. The Bison were swept by the Golden Tornadoes.

Game One Overview

Bethany Fell to Geneva, 10-1 (F/5)

The first inning was a battle for both teams. In the top half of the inning, Geneva scored two quick runs going ahead, 2-1. In the bottom half, Tyra Bell reaches on an error, driving in Kayla Dinsmore. The Bison were held with one run for the rest of the game. The Golden Tornadoes bats were alive in the second inning, scoring five runs and took a commanding lead over the Bison.

Game Two Overview
Bethany fell 11-7 to Geneva  

Geneva started the second game the same way they did the first game, they scored three runs to take a quick lead. Bethany battled, knotting the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the third inning. Jen Oberthur singled to right field driving in Janaya Hazlip and Erica Amoroso. The next batter, Tyra Bell doubled driving in Oberthur. Geneva regained the lead in the fourth inning going ahead 5-3. In the bottom of the fifth, the Bison battled to tie the game again. Kathleen Fuchs singled driving in Lauren Maichle. Kaitlyn Mills singled driving in Jen Oberthur. The Golden Tornadoes would once again answer the Bison runs, taking a 9-5 lead in the sixth inning. Bethany added runs in the bottom of the sixth to come within two. Kayla Dinsmore drove in Gabby Capaldi. Moments later, Jen Oberthur grounded out to shortstop and drove in Lauren Maichle. Unfortunately, the Bison would give up two more runs in the seventh and couldn't comeback.
