Softball Splits with W&J

Bethany, W. Va - The Bethany College softball team took on Washington & Jefferson in a PAC doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon. The Bison and the Presidents split.

Game One Overview

Bethany fell to W&J 13-5

The Bison struck first getting on the board in the top of the first inning. Jennifer Oberthur singled to left field scoring Emily Folk. The Presidents answered in the bottom half of the inning and scored again in the third inning to take a 4-1 lead. The Bison added a run in the fourth inning from a Paige Allen single scoring Janaya Hazlip. In the bottom of the fourth, W&J scored four runs taking a 8-2 lead. Bethany answered in the top of the fifth and sixth. Jen Oberthur doubled driving in Erica Amoroso. In the sixth inning, Oberthur singled again driving in Emily Folk and Erica Amoroso. Bethany would give up five runs in the bottom of the sixth to give the Presidents the win in game one.

Game Two Overview
Bethany defeated W&J, 7-4

Bethany struck first in game two getting two runs across. Jen Oberthur kept her hot bat going singling through the right scoring Kayla Dinsmore. Tyra Bell later drove in Oberthur, Bethany led 2-0 after one inning. W&J added a run in the third inning. The green and white plated three more runs in the fourth inning. Paige Allen hit a two run homerun and Kathleen Fuchs drove in Lauren Maichal. W&J added three runs in the fifth inning to come within one. The Bison added some insurance runs in the top of the seventh to give the Bison a 7-4 lead.
