Bethany Swimming & Diving Edged by Washington & Jefferson Wednesday Evening

Bethany, W Va.- The Bethany College Swimming and Diving team dropped a close meet to Washington & Jefferson last night 199-126. Both men and women scored 63 points apiece.


The women were led by Freshman Micki Webster (Moon Township, Pa/Moon Area), Laci Growe (Wellsville, Ohio/ Southern Local) and sophomore Madison Cramer (Kendalville, Ind/East Noble). Webster finished first in two events for the women, winning won the 200 freestyle and 100 freestyle, hitting the wall at two minutes 12.83 and 59.79 seconds.


Growe placed first for both diving events, outscoring her opponents by 27 and 48.05. The freshman diver finished with scores of 95.30 and 241.50.


Cramer finished first in the 500 freestyle for the women, hitting the wall in six minutes 22.22 seconds.


The men were led by senior Cheyne Stresky (Oxford, Mich/Oxford), junior Chandler Chafins (Calcutta, Ohio/Beaver Local), and senior Mark Tichrnor (Pittsburgh, Pa/Brentwood). The medley relay team made up of (Stresky, Chafins. C, Chafins. D, and Tichrnor) finished first in the 200 medley relay tapping the wall at one minute 47.49 seconds.


Senior Stresky continues to be a staple for the men's team finishing first in the 100 backstroke in 53.53 seconds.


Freshman Damon Chafins (Calcutta, Ohio/Beaver Local), hit second place in the 100 butterfly, hitting the wall in 59.89 seconds. Chandler Chafins placed third for the Bison in 200 freestyle finishing in two minutes 08.34 seconds.


Tichrnor finished third for the men in the 100 breaststroke with a time of one minute 09.27 seconds.


Bethany returns to the pool Saturday Dec. 8. The Bison will travel to Cabrini in a non-conference meet, set to start at 1pm.
