Bethany Hires Purcell as New Swimming and Diving Coach

Bethany, W. Va – Bethany College athletics has named Caileigh Purcell as its new head coach for men's and women's swimming and diving programs.

Purcell joins the Bethany College community from the Spencer Family YMCA, where she has served as the assistant coach for boys' and girls' swimmers since 2013. Additionally, Purcell has served as swim lesson coordinator for Pittsburgh Elite Aquatics for the past year.

"I am very excited to begin this journey with the swimmers at Bethany", said Purcell. "I believe we have a lot of room to grow and I am ready for the challenge. Swimming has always been a huge part of my life and I am committed to my athletes succeeding in the water. "

Purcell attended Clarion University, where she graduated in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts with a focus in Athletic Coaching. While attending Clarion she competed on the Golden Eagles swim team for two seasons before having to retire due to injury. Purcell has her Master's in Physical Education from the University of Arkansas.

The Cecil, Pa native, attended Canon McMillan where she was a four year WPIAL swimmer and holds records in the 200 free, and 400 free relay.
