Daugherty, Holenka selected to All-PAC teams

CRESTVIEW FALLS, Ky. (Feb. 24) – Bethany College junior Kelsea Daugherty (Newport, Ohio/Frontier) and senior Hayley Holenka (Shadyside, Ohio/Shadyside) were named to All-Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) women's basketball teams Friday night.
Daugherty was named to the All-PAC Second Team, while Holenka earned honorable mention honors.
Daugherty wrapped up a stellar junior season by averaging a double-double with 18.2 points and 11.3 rebounds per game. Entering play on Friday night, she ranked second in the league in points and first in rebounds. She scored in double-figures in 25 of the team's 26 games this season and closed out the year with double-digit rebound totals in 16 of Bethany's final 17 contests.
Now a three-time all-conference selection (2016 HM; 2015 2nd Team), Daugherty registered 19 double-doubles this season and finished the season with 295 rebounds, the third-highest single-season total in school history. The 2015 PAC Freshman of the Year also led the league in free-throw makes (152) and attempts (215) this season and converted 46 percent (161-for-351) of her attempts from the field to rank ninth in field goal percentage.
Holenka garners honorable mention laurels for the second-straight season after establishing a career-best 17.3 points per game, good for third in the PAC behind Daugherty. One of the premier long distance threats in the league, Holenka led the PAC with 63 made three pointers and ranked fourth in three-point field goal percentage with a 37.5 percent success rate. Defensively, Holenka led the Bison and slotted fourth in the conference with 2.4 steals per game
Holenka ends her career with 1,103 points and stands 14th all-time in school-history in points and third all-time with 177 three pointers made. Her 63 made three pointers this season rank as the second-highest single-season total in school history, one-shy of the 64 she converted in 2015-16. Holenka also ends her career with the single-game record for three pointers made in a game when she drained eight in a double-overtime loss to Washington & Jefferson.
First-year Head Coach Brian Sansom and the Bison ended the 2016-17 campaign after a defeat in the PAC Tournament on Monday at 12-14 overall.
