Women’s Basketball rolls past Manchester 62-51 to go 3-0

N. Manchester, IN- The Bethany Women's Basketball team rolled past Manchester University in the first round of the Main View Tip-Off Tournament 62-51. The Bison were led by Sophomore Haylie Glass (Mercer, Pa/Mercer) with a career tying high 19 points. Bethany's 3-0 for the first time since the 2014-15 season.

Bethany (3-0) will take on Albion (2-0) in the final round of the tournament at 3pm on Saturday.

The Bison used a 23-5 fourth quarter to pull out the win led by Glass with 19 points, senior Ashley Duthie (Madison, Oh/Madison) sophomore Allison Kuhn (Lewisville, Oh/Monroe Central) each contributed 10 points and six rebounds.

Senior Sammie Weiss (Taylorstown, Pa/McGuffey) grabbed a team high nine rebounds and added 6 points, along with Sophomores Janaya Hazlip (McKees Rocks, Pa/Sto-Rox) and Makayla Reynolds (Buckhannon,Wv/Buckhannon-Upshur) each grabbing seven rebounds and adding four and six points respectively.

After trailing majority of the game, the Bison took a two point lead from a three hit by Sammie Weiss, making the score 45-43. The Bison held on to the lead for the rest of the game only and only giving up five points the rest of the game to the Spartans.

Bethany College shot 22-62 (35.5%) from the field while Manchester went 16-59 (27%) from the field. The Bison hit 7-21 (33%) from three and held The Spartans to 4-23 (17%). Both Glass and Kuhn were 2-5 from beyond the arc for the Bison.

The Bison out rebounded the Spartans 54-36 and shot 14-24 from the charity stripe while the Spartans were 12-16. The Spartans leading scorers were Maddy Minehart with 10 points and Macy Miller with 9 points.
