Bethany Clipped by Thiel
Greenville, Pa- The Bethany College women's basketball team traveled to Greenville, Pa. for a President's Athletic Conference (PAC) matchup to face the Thiel College Tomcats. The Bison fell to the Tomcats, 77-69. Senior Sammie Weiss led the Bison with 24 points. The green and white are now 11-10 (6-6), while Thiel is now 5-15 (3-8).
GAME OVERVIEW
1st- Sammie Weiss got the Bison on the board scoring 12 straight points. An Ashley Duthie layup put the green and white ahead 14-12. Free throws from Kelsie Meintel put the Bison ahead 16-12. A Haylie Glass three extended the lead to 19-14.
2nd- A Makayla Reynolds layup stretched the lead to 21-14. Bethany and Thiel went back and forth with each team answering its opponent's shots. The Tomcats cut the Bison lead to two, 23-19, but the green and white fired back, with jumpers from Reynolds and a Weiss layup. The Bison led by as many as eight, before a 13-4 Tomcat run to end the half. Thiel led 32-31 at halftime.
3rd- Back to back threes from Allison Kuhn and Duthie gave the Bison a 36-32 lead to start the second half. The Tomcats took the lead back 39-38. A M. Reynolds layup gave the Bison a 40-39 lead. A see-saw battle with each team answering its opponent's shots, exchanging the lead multiple times. At the end of three, game knotted at 50-50.
4th- Tomcats start the fourth on a 7-0 run before Makayla Reynolds laid in a layup, cutting the lead to five, 57-52. The Bison saw the lead grow to as many as 11 throughout the fourth quarter.
