Strong First Half Propels Bison over Nittany Lions

Bethany, W.Va – The Bethany College women's basketball team faced the Penn State New Kensington Nittany Lions in a non-conference contest Wednesday evening inside Hummel Field House. The Bison bounced back defeating the Nittany Lions, 54-37.

GAME OVERVIEW

The Green and White jumped out to a quick 8-0 run in the opening minutes of the first quarter. The Bison used momentum to build a commanding lead over the Nittany Lions. Bethany held Penn State New Kensington to just four points in the first stanza and outscored the Nittany Lions 34-6 in the first half.

Penn State New Kensington's offense came alive in the second half, cutting the deficit to 16 points, but the Bison bounced back to build the lead back up to 20. The Nittany Lions outscored the Bison 20-12 in the third quarter. Penn State New Kensington scrapped to cut the Bison lead to 13 in the fourth quarter but the Green and White were able to maintain the commanding lead over the Nittany Lions.

Bethany out rebounded Penn State New Kensington 41-19 and outscored the Nittany Lions 24-14 in the paint. The Bison were led by sophomore Kelsie Meintel and freshman Abbey Dobbins with 11 points apiece. Junior Allison Kuhn added 10 points and dished out seven assists for the Bison.
