Glass and Heap lead Bison over Tomcats

Greenville, Pa – The Bethany College women's basketball team traveled to Greenville, Pa for a PAC contest against the Thiel College Tomcats early Saturday afternoon. The Bison battled for a 53-49 win over the Tomcats. Junior Haylie Glass led the Bison with 13 points. Freshman Alexis Heap added 11 points and seven boards for the Green and White.

GAME OVERVIEW

An Abbey Dobbins jumper lifted the lid for the Bison giving them a 2-0 lead to begin the game. The Bison narrowly held onto the lead in the first quarter, allowing the Tomcats to battle back within one after being down by five. Bethany led 12-11 after the first stanza.

Bethany and Thiel went neck and neck in the second quarter, with the Green and White outscoring the Tomcats, 9-8 in the quarter. A Haylie Glass layup at the end of the second gave the Bison a 21-19 lead going into the break.

The Bison opened the second half with a Kelsie Meintel layup. Both teams battled back and forth. The Bison scrapped for the lead but a Tomcat free throw knotted the game at 37-37 at the end of the third.

The final stanza was a battle with both teams answering their opponents' shots. Haylie Glass nailed a jumper for the Bison to take a 46-45 lead. Moments later, Glass would knock in one of two free throws to extend the lead to 47-45. An Alexis Heap old fashion three point play built the lead to five. The Bison would seal the win hitting their free throws and holding the Tomcats scoreless in the final seconds of the game.
