Bison shutout 1-0 at Waynesburg

Oct. 1 - WAYNESBURG, Pa. - The Bethany women's soccer team dropped their Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) opener 1-0 to Waynesburg.

Senior Brittany Fullbright (Wadsworth, Ohio/Wadsworth) had a chance in the eighth minute to put the Bison up early but the Yellow Jacket goalie stepped in front of the shot keeping it scoreless.

Just three minutes later, Melanie Burchfield scored off of a rebound giving the hosts the 1-0 advantage. WU would tally a few more shots before the break but the score would stick after one half.

Four minutes into the second half, Fullbright wanted to net the equalizer but her shot rung off the crossbar keeping it 1-0.

Shortly after, Michaela Hinerman (Weirton, W.Va./Brooke) gave her best effort for the tie on a header but the keeper registered the save.

Waynesburg would hold out for the rest of second half to notch the PAC win.

Taylor Sasak (Berea, Ohio/Berea) stepped into the goal in the second half and registered eight saves for Bethany.

Bethany has now taken their second 1-0 loss in a row to drop to 2-6 (0-1, PAC) but they look to right the ship on Wednesday when they host the Chatham Cougars in a game slated for 4 p.m.
