Bison battle in 1-0 loss to Westminster

Oct. 22 - BETHANY, W.Va. - The Bethany women's soccer team closed out their home schedule with a 1-0 loss to Westminster at Bison Stadium on Saturday.

The seniors were honored for their contributions to the program before the contest.

The first half was a battle for field possession with both sides fighting for the ball around midfield.

The Bison and Titans registered two and four shots, respectively, but neither team had a better scoring chance than the other, leading to a scoreless tie at halftime.

In the 57th minute, the Titans had a scoring chance but Anna Riddle (Mount Pleasant, PA./Mount Pleasant) jumped in front of the net-side cross to stop the pressure.

Just a few minutes later Michaela Hinerman (Weirton, W.Va./Brooke) was rushing downfield but a pass was just out of her reach stalling the Bisons scoring chance.

The visitors broke the stalemate in the 77th minute when a quick shot from the 18-yard box escaped Riddle's reach.
