Bison finish 2016 with a 3-2 win over Thiel

Oct. 28 - GREENVILLE, Pa. - The Bethany women's soccer team capped off the 2016 season by defeating Thiel 3-2 at Alumni Stadium.

Lindsey Cornish (McKeesport, Pa./South Allegheny) got the Bison on the board first in the 28th minute. She got off two shots with the first deflecting off the Tomcat goalkeeper right back to her and she finished for the early advantage.

The hosts had an answer a few minutes later on a similar situation where the net finder was scored off a rebound.

The Bison regained the lead when Kadin Gould (Huntington, W.Va. / St. Joseph Central Catholic) scored her first collegiate goal in the 42nd minute. Gould took her shot from about 25 yards out and it rung off the crossbar and in, giving Bethany the 2-1 halftime lead.

Following halftime, Thiel would again net the equalizer off a free kick, tying it at two.

The Bison regained the lead in the 71st minute when Julie Slezak (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) took a pass from Sarah London (Whitehouse Station, N.J./Hunterdon Central) in front of the net and dropped the shot over the approaching goalie's head. the Bison held on for their first Presidents' Athletic conference victory.

In the win, Anna Riddle (Mount Pleasant, Pa./Mount Pleasant) registered seven saves. Cornish, Gould, and Slezak's respective goals were their first of the season.

Bethany ends their season with a record of 3-13-1 (1-7-1, PAC) while Thiel falls to 2-15-1 (1-8, PAC).
