A Pair of Strikes From Chambers Lifts Bison to Victory over Lycoming

WILLIAMSPORT, PA. (Sept. 9) - A pair of strikes off the foot of freshman Grace Chambers (Uniontown, Pa./Laurel Highlands) lifted the Bethany College Women's Soccer team to 2-1 victory over Lycoming College, Sunday, September 9.

THE MATCHUP

  • Records: Bethany 3-2, Lycoming 0-5

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Entering the second half scoreless, Bethany got itself on the board with an unassisted Chambers goal in the 58th minute.

  • Lycoming answered back with a goal of their own six minutes later to even the score at one apiece.

  • The Bison did not stay silent for long as the Chambers tallied her fifth goal for the campaign after winning a scrum off a corner kick by senior Lindsey Cornish (McKeesport, Pa./South Allegheny).

MATCH NOTES

  • In her first appearance donning the Green and White, junior goalkeeper Sammie Weiss (Taylorstown, Pa./McGuffey), tallied 14 saves. Weiss' stops are the most for a keeper since 2017 when Anna Riddle recorded 15 saves against Washington & Jefferson (Oct. 25, 2017).

  • Cornish's helper marks her second for the season and is a team-high, while Weiss' continues to lead the Bison with 11 points this year.

  • Despite being out-shot by Warriors, 27-9, Bethany eventually came out on top, 2-1.
