Women's Soccer Selected to Finish Eighth in PAC

Women's Soccer Selected to Finish Eighth in PAC

Bethany, W.Va – The Bethany College women's soccer program will look for consistency as a new era will commence in 2019, as Head Coach Alyssa Finelli will embark on her first season following successful stops as a college assistant.

Finelli comes to Bethany after spending two seasons at Seton Hill as the Griffins assistant coach. In her first season with Seton Hill, the Griffins had their most successful season as a member of the NCAA.  The team finished with twelve wins and advanced to the PSAC Tournament for the first time in school history.

Finelli will inherit a Bethany roster that will welcome back leading scorer Grace Chambers and seven returners from a season ago. The Bison were picked to finish eighth in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) preseason coaches' poll last Thursday. Along with the preseason predictions, the league released their annual PAC players to watch list.

Bethany's Chambers was named a PAC player to watch along with juniors Rebecca Lee and Celeste Marchbanks, and sophomore Allison Paxton. Lee, Marchbanks, and Paxton will look to continue to play a prominent role on defense.

Junior Riley Meyers returns to the field this season after a season ending injury. Meyers had a stellar sophomore year earning All-PAC second team honors and leading the Bison in points and goals.

The Bison have a pair of scrimmages before opening up season play at the Spartan Classic held at D'Youville on August 30-31.
