Women's Soccer: Bison Continue Hot Streak with Shutout Over Panthers

BETHANY, W.Va.  – The women's soccer team cruised to a 7-0 win over University of Pittsburgh at Bradford in their home opener Saturday afternoon.

THE HIGHLIGHTS

  • The Bison struck quick after Emily Wenger found the back of the net a 1:31 into the match.
  • Shunnye Christopher scored her first goal of the match at the 8:26 mark off of a pass from Monica Bird.
  • The Bison led 2-0 at the halftime break.
  • In the second half, the Bison exploded and scored five goal to maintain the large lead over the Panthers.
  • Morgan Keelan scored twice in the second half, while Jada Benjamin and Mary Marshall both scored goals for the Bison. Christopher earned her second goal of the game in the second half.

BY THE NUMBERS

  • The Bison held the advantage on shots,  37-3
  • The Panthers goalie, Sadie Wood had 19 saves.
  • Corrine Grawbow earned the shutout, making three saves.
