Bethany Tennis Unable to Overcome Early Deficit

Sept. 20 - WAYNESBURG, Pa. - The Bethany tennis team dropped a Presidents' Athletic Conference match with Waynesburg 6-3 on Tuesday.

Bethany dropped all three doubles matches; however, Francesca Capaldi (Steubenville, Ohio / Catholic Central) and Leonora Wetstein (Giessen, Germany / Liebig-Schule) played a close match, falling just short of a win at 8-6.

In singles action, the Bison captured three matches.

Alyssa Smydo (Bentleyville, Pa. / Bentworth) dropped her first set 6-1 before winning the second set 6-. She would drop the third set 12-10.

In fourth singles, Emily Folk (Hagerstown, Md. / North Hagerstown) won the first match of the season for Bethany. After dropping the first set 6-3, she won the next two sets 6-3 and 10-7.

Capaldi swept her singles match 6-1 and 6-3 to give the Bison their second win of the day.

Hayleigh Brooks (Martinsburg, W. Va. / Martinsburg) followed suit, sweeping her match 6-0 and 6-1. 

With the loss, Bethany falls to 0-6 (0-5 PAC) on the season. They get a week off as their next match is Wednesday, Sept. 28 when they travel to Grove City for a conference matchup.
