Schafbuch, Scott tabbed PAC Rookies of the Week

GREENVILLE, Pa. (Sept. 25) - Bethany College junior Kristin Schafbuch (Marpingen, Germany/Arnold Janssen) of the women's tennis team and freshman Jenna Scott (New Castle, Ind./Liberty Christian) of the volleyball team were named as Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Rookies of the Week in their respective sports announced the leauge office Monday afternoon.

Schafbuch, an exchange student from Germany, went 3-0 at No. 1 singles and 2-1 while pairing with senior Alyssa Smydo at No. 1 doubles last week for the Bison. She earned a 6-2, 6-1 win over Muskingum's Elizabeth Knauss and 8-0 win over Knauss and Kristen Chandler in last Friday's 9-0 shutout of Muskingum, the program's first victory since a 5-4 win over Chatham on September 22, 2012. 

Scott was named PAC Rookie of the Week in volleyball for the second time this season after she totaled 169 assists (9.9/set), 21 digs (1.2/set), six blocks and six service aces and hit .360 (10-1-25) during Bethany's 4-1 week. She posted a season-high 50 assists in a five-set setback against Fairleigh Dickinson-Florham Saturday at York's Spartan Invitational, the second-most in the PAC in a single-match this season.

The Bethany College women's tennis team will complete a previously suspended match with Washington & Jefferson today and compete against Grove City tomorrow, Tuesday, September 26 at 3:30 p.m.

The Bison volleyball team resumes PAC play tomorrow, Tuesday, September 26 when they host W&J at 7 p.m.
