New Wilmington, Pa – Bethany College’s athletes Ryan Anselmino and Katie Sparks were recognized as PAC Scholar-Athletes announced by the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Tuesday morning.

The normal pattern of life for Bethany student-athletes who dedicate most school-year time to academics and team-related activities was recently turned upside down in a matter of days. A month has passed since the announcement of the suspension of athletic events and remote learning would take place. The spring competitions pulled right out from beneath the student-athletes in March, and every member of the Bison community was affected in some way, with the announcements cancelling first individual events and then entire spring sports seasons. That precipitated to Bethany like most colleges nationally transitioning to remote classes for the remainder of the semester.

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. (pacathletics.org)--At its annual spring meeting, which was held as a virtual conference on April 2, the Presidents' Council of the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) officially cancelled the 2020 spring varsity sports season. The PAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year Banquet, held annually in May in Wexford, Pa., was also cancelled.

Bethany, W. Va – Bethany College athletics will hold a Scholar-Athlete Experience Day for all interested athletes on February 8, 2020. Registration for the day will begin at 10 am and prospective scholar-athletes will experience a tour of Bethany College campus, meet the coaches, and have a Q&A with current scholar-athletes. There will be an opportunity to learn more about the introduction to “Bison360” and complimentary admission to the basketball double-header against PAC opponent Chatham Cougars.

Bethany College athletics inducted six new members into the Bethany Athletic Hall of Fame Saturday afternoon, as part of the annual homecoming festivities. The 2019 inductees were also recognized before the start of the football game against Westminster as part of the annual tradition. The 2019 inductees included Angela Ryder (Bado), class of 1977 (Women's Field Hockey); Alexander Ciocca III, class of 1976 (Football); Jean Newman (Goldring), class of 1975 (Women's Basketball, Volleyball, Field Hockey, and Tennis); Michael Houck, class of 2001 (Baseball); John Kenneth McVay, class of 1969 (Football); and Robert Radakovich; class of 1974 (Football, Track & Field, Basketball).

Director of Athletics Steve Thompson has announced the hiring of Meighan Julbert as the Director of Student Athlete Success. Julbert was hired as part of the Division III Ethnic Minorities and Women’s Internship Grant that Bethany College was awarded earlier this summer.
