Bethany Stays Hot with Sweep Over Pitt-Greensburg

Bethany, W. Va - The Bethany College baseball team swept Pitt-Greensburg in a non-conference double header Saturday afternoon at Bethany Park. The Bison are now 6-0.

Game One Overview
Bethany defeated Pitt-Greensburg, 5-1

The green and white trailed 1-0 going into the bottom of the fourth inning. The Bison didn't trail long though. Back to back errors from Pitt-Greensburg put Kyle Goodwin and Neil Woods on base. A Kevin Roach single drove in Goodwin, knotting the ballgame at 1-1. Noah Rady doubled to left center driving in Woods. Moments later, Ryan Anselmino singled driving in Roach. A Josh Lonero grounder scored Rady, giving the Bison a 4-1 lead. In the fifth inning, the green and white added a security run from Woods SAC fly scoring Ethan Young.

Game Two Overview
Bethany defeated Pitt-Greensburg, 7-4

Pitt-Greensburg jumped to a 3-0 lead in the early innings of the ballgame. Bethany slowly chipped away at the lead. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Tyler Frazee scored on a wild pitch, cutting the lead 3-1. The Bison bats game alive in the bottom of the sixth when the green and white scored six runs on five hits. Tyler Frazee walked to start the inning. Noah Rady singled advancing Frazee. Moments later, pinch hitter Jake Stemmerich doubled to right field driving in Frazee. Josh Lonero singled up the middle scoring another run for the Bison. A pass ball allowed pinch runner Michael Whiteherse to score giving the green and white a 4-1 lead. A bases loaded SAC fly from Kyle Goodwin scored Lonero. The Bison scored an easy run from a Pitt-Greensburg balk. Neil Woods drove in the green and white's final run giving the Bison a 7-3 lead. In the seventh inning the Bobcats tried to rally back but fell short.
