Baseball Splits PAC Opener with Grove City

Bethany, W. Va - The Bethany College baseball team faced Grove City in a PAC double-header, Wednesday afternoon at Bethany Park. The Bison split with the Wolverines to open PAC play.

Game One Overview
Bethany defeated Grove City 8-3.

The Bison struck first in the bottom of the first from a Neil Woods single, scoring Kyle Goodwin. The Wolverines knotted the ball game up at 1-1 in the top of the second inning. The green and white regained the lead in the bottom of the inning, off of a Josh Lonero single, driving in Kevin Roach. The Bison tacked on another run in the bottom of the third from a Tyler Frazee blast over the left field fence. Bethany led 3-1. In the bottom of the fourth the Bison added on three runs with a Brandon Wagner single driving in Ryan Anselmino. Ethan Young sailed a two run shot over the left field fence giving the Bison a 6-1 lead. In the Bottom of the fifth, the Wolverines added on two runs but the Bison answered adding on two of their own. Bethany would win 8-3 in game one.

Game Two Overview
Bethany fell 6-5 to Grove City

Bethany got on the scoreboard first in the bottom of the second from a Noah Rady triple that drove in Tyler Frazee. Grove City answered in the top of the third leveled the game at 1-1. The Bison would regain the lead in the bottom half of the inning from a Kyle Goodwin single, scoring Brandon Wagner. The green and white held onto a 2-1 lead until the top of the sixth inning. Grove City would take a 3-2 lead. In the bottom of the sixth the Bison answered knotting the game at 3-3. Bethany would regain the lead again in the bottom of the seventh, taking a 5-3 lead coming from an Ethan Young single and Tyler Alworth getting hit by a pitch. The Bison wouldn't hang on to the lead for long, with the Wolverines taking a 6-5 lead in the eighth inning.
