Bethany Snaps W&J's 16 Game Win Streak

Bethany, W. Va. - The Bethany College baseball team took on the Washington & Jefferson Presidents in a nine inning contest Monday afternoon. The Bison snapped the Presidents 16 game win streak and defeated the Presidents for the first time since the 2014 campaign.  Tyler Alworth pitched the distance going all nine innings and picked up his fourth win of the season.

Bethany defeated W&J, 5-2

The Presidents struck first in the first inning to take a 1-0 lead. The Bison got on the board in the bottom of the third from a Neil Woods single that drove in Seth Gordon. The green and white and Presidents battled until the sixth inning when the Presidents took a 2-1 lead off a solo homerun. Bethany shook off the homerun by scoring two runs in the bottom half of the inning. A bases loaded squeeze bunt single from Ethan Young scored Neil Woods. Moments later, Kyle Goodwin drove in Jake Stemmerich. In the bottom of the seventh, Tyler Frazee sealed the deal with a two-run Bison blast over the left centerfield fence. Bethany would take game three of the series 5-2.
