Football Duo Recognized by ECAC

Sept. 20 – DANBURY, Conn. – Bethany College quarterback Chase Kinemond (Shadyside, Ohio/Shadyside) and freshman running back Raekwon Wright (Baltimore, Md./Patterson) received honors from the East Coast Athletic Conference for their performances this past week in the 57-47 loss to Thiel.

Kinemond was named Divison III South Offensive Player of the Week while Wright earned Divison III South Rookie of the Week laurels.

"It is great for our program, players, and conference to be recognized by the ECAC," said coach Bill Garvey.

Kinemond had a record setting performance against the Tomcats, throwing for 417 yards and three touchdowns on 39 completions. The Shadyside, Ohio native also rushed for 94 yards on 21 carries for three touchdowns. His 39 completions and 511 offensive yards set him atop the college's single-game record book.

"Chase had a great performance not just within our conference but on a national level as well. We look forward to the growth over the next seven weeks," added Garvey.

Wright did a little bit of everything for the Bison on Saturday gaining 291 all-purpose yards. He rushed for 89 yards with a score while catching four passes for 78 yards and a touchdown. He also contributed 124 yards in the return game (92 kickoff, 32 punt).

"Raekwon is an explosive player. Last week we had the opportunity to get him some more touches and he took full advantage of his opportunity," said Garvey of his freshman tailback.

Bethany hosts the Westminster Titans this Saturday in a game slated to kickoff at 6p.m.
