Lowe named CoSIDA Academic All-District

Andrew Woodley, Sports Information Director

AUSTIN, Texas (Nov. 16) - Senior long snapper Zach Lowe (Jacksonville, Fla./Bishop Kenny) was announced as a member of the 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District II Football Team Thursday afternoon.

Lowe advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot with his selection to the all-district team. The CoSIDA Academic All-America teams will be announced in December.

Lowe, a senior political science major with minors in history and criminal justice, recently wrapped up his football career as a mainstay on the Bison special teams unit. He has appeared in all 41 games since his freshman season as the long snapper and tallied 10 tackles on special teams. Lowe has also been named to the PAC Academic Honor Roll following each season and was named to the All-PAC Sportsmanship Team this past week.

To be nominated for the CoSIDA Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.3 or higher cumulative grade-point average (GPA) and be a starter or significant reserve.

This is the seventh year of the expanded Academic All-America program, as CoSIDA moved from recognizing a University Division (Division I) and a College Division (all non-Division I) and has doubled the number of scholar-athletes honored. The expanded teams include NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II and NCAA Division III participants, while the College Division Academic All-America Team combines NAIA, Canadian and two-year schools.

The Division II and III Academic All-America program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II and III national governance structures to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2017-18 Division II and Division III Academic All-America program.
